5 Reasons Why Daniel Craig Should Leave James Bond After Spectre
4. The Public Seem Ready For A New Bond
You can always guarantee the release of a new Bond film will be accompanied with the same timeless ephemera - a classically-styled theme song, glaring marketing tie-ins and, of course, hordes of people asked who'll be the next 007. It doesn't really matter if the movie in question is an actor's debut or their seventh in the role; there's nothing quite like speculating on who's going to be the next person to wear a Rolex... sorry, Omega. Ever since Skyfall, though, the chatter hasn't really subsided. It feels like every other week there's talk of changing odds or another Brit saying they'd be "open to it", setting the rumours going again. So, who's it going to be? I'd put my money on Tom Hardy. Idris Elba has been cited over and over (and no, he isn't "too street" for it), while Damien Lewis unexpectedly became the bookies favourite a few months back (for obvious reasons I love the idea of a ginger Bond), but Hardy has both the requisite skill and willingness to make Bond work (and is considerably younger than his fellow favourites). However, the point isn't who it's going to be, but the fact that the way people talk about Craig's successor clearly indicates there's a readiness for him to step down (or at least an acceptance it'll happen soon). That's not to say people will be happy to see him leave (they won't), but he's been in the role for almost ten years and isn't going to be as spry forever...
