When making an updated and grown up film of a 90s classic you need a cast to match, and this is just another aspect which Power/Rangers has nailed. The name who has arguably been getting the most attention has been Katee Sackhoff, someone almost synonymous with updated adaptations. She rose to fame playing a now female Starbuck in the highly acclaimed reimagined Battlestar Galactica, and although nowhere near as successful she also appeared in the short lived update of the Bionic Woman. In the other corner we have star of Dawson's Creek, a teen drama which began back in 1998, James Van Der Beek. As if starring in all six seasons as the titular Dawson wasn't enough, his place as a pop culture legend was assured when he was seen in Kevin Smith's Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. He even won the MTV movie award for best cameo thanks to his appearance in Scary Movie. Those behind the camera also have careers which give a sense of authenticity to the project, namely producer and director Adi Shankar and Joseph Kahn respectively. As well as giving Dredd a respectful adaptation after the failure of Sylvester Stallone's attempt, Shankar also produced the Punisher short film Dirty Laundry, which saw Thomas Jane reprise the Marvel role. Kahn meanwhile began his career directing music videos, and was responsible for the homage-centric videos of Muse's Knights of Cydonia and Eminem's Without Me.
