5 Surprising Cinematic Universes (And 5 Which Never Got Off The Ground)

5. Surprising: The 'Blumhouse Horror' Cinematic Universe

In recent years, Blumhouse Productions has emerged as one of horror's most prolific production companies, responsible for a slew of terrifying hits including Insidious, Paranormal Activity, and The Invisible Man.

While not all the films produced by the highly-successful company share the same cinematic universe, Jason Blum, who has personally produced films such as Sinister and The Purge, has admitted that he has deliberately utilized a handful of Easter eggs in order to connect some of these horror franchises.

Most notably, Blum has confirmed that the Insidious series and the Sinister franchise most definitely take place within the same shared universe, and he has teased that a more deliberate crossover is potentially on the cards.

These two franchises, which focus primarily on families haunted by violent, paranormal forces, both remain successful, relatively well-received horror hits. Given their similarities in terms of themes (and scares), we would love to see a more explicit crossover between the two franchises, as well as even more Easter eggs to confirm their terrifying, interconnected universe.
