50 God-Tier Acting Moments Buried in Bad Movies

As many predicted, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 did indeed adapt the death of Gwen Stacey (Emma Stone) - Gerry Conway's 1973 The Night Gwen Stacy Died tale - which is remembered as one of the most shocking and important moments in the history of comic books. The result was one of the all-time great scenes from an otherwise disappointing film.

Seeing Stone's Gwen Stacy, one of the all-time great superhero love interests, dying was devastating enough on its own, and Andrew Garfield's fantastic portrayal of grief made it all even more heartbreaking. Looking at his crying face is like looking into the sun; it's painful to watch in the best sort of way.

Garfield's portrayal of Peter Parker has been overpraised over the years. He was a funny and charismatic Spider-Man, but an irritating Peter Parker who lacked the charm and likability of Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland's vastly superior takes on the character. Nevertheless, he was outstanding in this particular moment, and this scene - as well as his improved presence in Spider-Man: No Way Home - suggests he could've been a much better Peter in a stronger group of movies.
