50 God-Tier Acting Moments Buried in Bad Movies
20. David Tennant - Bad Samaritan
Bad Samaritan is yet another classic case of a great actor going ridiculously hard for a rather mediocre film that didn't really deserve them. This one centres around Sean (Robert Sheehan), a house burglar who breaks into a house and discovers a woman being kept prisoner. He's just broken into the house of Cale Erendreich (David Tennant), a deranged and sadistic serial killer, and now Cale is coming after him, too.
For the most part, Bad Samaritan is as 'whatever' as it gets. Nothing about it is innovative, striking, or memorable... except for Tennant. Despite how lovable he is off-screen and in many of his roles, David Tennant is a master at playing villains, and he shows that here with his ferociously nasty performance, making Cale a nightmarish movie villain.
Tennant's unhinged, brutal performance - complete with a convincing American accent - truly is a sight to behold, and he's so much better than every other aspect of the production that it ain't even funny. Those who have seen Bad Samaritan probably only watched it to see the beloved actor go dark as a gnarly serial killer, and his performance certainly didn't disappoint, even if the rest of the movie was a let-down.
