Prom Night - which sees a killer going after those who caused the death of a young girl in a prank gone wrong - isn't a particularly good film when all's said and done, but it remains one of the quintessential 1980s slasher movies, and it's got so many hallmarks of the genre.

This includes a Final Girl played by Jamie Lee Curtis, a masked killer, many gory kills, a fatal prank which gets covered up, interrupted sex, and, of course, a completely unlikable character that no-one wanted to see survive. In Prom Night, that character is Wendy (Anne Marie-Martin), who's basically the Queen Bee Mean Girl stereotype dialled up to 11.

Wendy's horrible as a child, but she's even worse as a teenager. In the movie's flashback opening, she shows no remorse for causing another child's death, and in the present-day section of the film, she spends it being nasty to everyone and trying to sabotage protagonist Kim's (Curtis) relationship with Nick (Casey McBride), who is Wendy's ex.

She's eventually axed by the killer following an awesome chase sequence, and it's supremely unlikely any viewers felt sorry for her.
