50 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2022
14. The Killer
David Fincher is currently shooting an adaptation of the acclaimed graphic novel The Killer, starring Michael Fassbender as an assassin undergoing a psychological crisis.
With Se7en writer Andrew Kevin Walker penning the script and Tilda Swinton starring opposite Fassbender, there's plenty to be excited about here, even with the production taking place under quite the cloak of secrecy.
As part of Fincher's ongoing collaboration with Netflix, The Killer will also release directly on the streaming platform, presumably with a theatrical option for those who wish to see their Fincher films on the big screen first.
This feels less like an awards contender for Fincher than something like Mank, but as he's proven so many times before, he can spin frothy pulp into grimy artistry like few others.
The Killer is expected to release on Netflix later this year.
13. Untitled David O. Russell Project
David O. Russell's first film since 2015's Joy reunites him with Christian Bale for a period drama centered around a doctor and lawyer who form an unlikely partnership.
The cast is expectedly bursting at the steams, with Bale being joined by Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Rami Malek, Zoe Saldana, Robert De Niro, Mike Myers, Timothy Olyphant, Michael Shannon, Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Andrea Riseborough, Matthias Schoenaerts, Alessandro Nivola, and Taylor Swift.
That's a guaranteed SAG ensemble nod right there.
Very little is known about the content of the story and it hasn't even got a confirmed title yet - originally believed to be Canterbury Glass - though given that it's due to drop this coming November, we'll surely learn more within the coming months.
Naturally, with this cast and crew - including legendary cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki - it's widely expected to be an awards contender next year.
Untitled David O. Russell Project releases on November 4.
