31. Raleigh - Would You Rather
There are a few death scenes on this list that come from horror movies, and most of them have earned their place for either how brutal or how gory they were. This one however, is different, as it is an emotional gut punch of a death in a film filled with gruesome ones.
In Would You Rather, Brittany Snow's Iris was invited to play a sick and twisted version of the titular game, essentially at the whim of a rich man who enjoyed playing god and manipulating people who weren't as fortunate as he was.
Some of the things the people in the game were forced to do were unspeakable, but Iris kept going because of her brother, Raleigh (Logan Miller). If she could win the game, Shepard Lambrick (Jeffrey Combs) agreed that he would pay for Raleigh's leukemia treatments, and use his influence and foundation to find a bone marrow donor.
She put herself through traumatic things that easily could have killed her, and she herself killed others, on her way to winning and all but saving her brother's life. When she returned home however, in the very final moments of the film, she found that her brother had become overwhelmed with feeling like a burden to her, and had taken his own life. Not only had she lost her brother, but everything she put herself through while playing such a sick game had been for nothing.
