45. The Toon Shoe - Who Framed Roger Rabbit

Audiences will always care about humans and animals being in peril, but with the power of anthropomorphism, cinema also has the power to make you care about... a shoe. (Yes, a shoe.)

In the wacky and sometimes disturbing world of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Christopher Lloyd's Judge Doom made it his personal mission to kill the eponymous character after he was, as the title suggests, framed for the murder of a human.

It had previously been thought impossible to kill a toon, but Doom found a way, and decided to demonstrate his new method in as sinister a manner as possible - by taking an innocent toon shoe, and killing it right before Eddie Valiant's (Bob Hoskins) eyes.

Said method was a toxic dip that proved lethal to the toons. Doom grabbed the shoe, who was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, and slowly and excruciatingly lowered it into the acid until there was simply nothing left - all while it cowered in terror! What a horrifying scene to put in a kids' film!
