4. Gwen Stacy
Again trying to distance themselves from the first trilogy, here we are continuing the very potent love interest in the form of the gorgeous Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy. Comic fans will remember Stacy as one of Parker's first loves before the jackpot-scoring Mary Jane Watson would show up, and it seems that the Marvel chaps have tried to forget as much of Spider-Man 3's attempt at the character as the rest of us, continuing to flesh out her influence on Peter's motives. Without delving into what may be fairly inevitable spoilers if the movie is going to follow the comics, it will be very interesting to see how a big screen version of the Parker-MJ-Stacy love-triangle will play out. However updates around the internet on Mary Jane's inclusion are just as baffling as where Parker's head would be should such a thing come to fruition, and unless they're keeping her character completely under-wraps until the big release or a post-credits stinger, unknown-actor Shailene Woodley is nowhere to be seen. Are we going to get a replication of the legendary introduction MJ's character receives in the comics? Perhaps an extrapolation on where Parker's head is at throughout what may happen with Gwen Stacy? It could be either, it could be both, or something new entirely, for now we'll have to wait to find out.
