7 MCU Costumes That Need To Change

2. War Machine

War Machine has sported that same silver/grey hunk of metal since Iron Man 2, barring a brief change into the more colourful Iron Patriot during Iron Man 3.

While not as advanced as Tony's latest suits, the War Machine armour is still packing some heat, and the Infinity War version allows the semi-paralysed Rhodes to walk around freely.

Why The Costume Needs To Change: Rhodey's less showy, more tactically-minded plain chrome colour scheme is the perfect representation of his organised, efficient approach to combat, something granted by his extensive military background.

Instead, the issues with his War Machine armour can be found at a story level; more specifically, the fact that Rhodey has been stuck with basically the same outfit for the past eight years while Tony has been designing more powerful, more advanced suits for himself, and other characters, like Spider-Man.

It doesn't make any sense when you think about it. Tony built an amazingly sophisticated piece of kit with the Mark L Iron Man armour, as well as the Iron Spider suit, with its nanotech deployment capability and four additional spider-legs. But Rhodey's suit just has a couple of guns and bomb dispensers?

Tony has always been a bit ignorant, but failing to set Rhodey - his best friend - up with a suit that's a bit more snazzy is just a d*ck move. True, the guns and bombs suit Rhodey's fighting style, but what about the nanotech? The rocket boost? There's so much cool stuff he's missing!

As long as it's not overdone and War Machine doesn't become as overpowered as Iron Man currently is, his suit desperately needs some upgrades.

Additionally, Rhodey's Infinity War armour suffered from the same CGI issues that plagued the Hulkbuster. It wasn't as bad, but just by looking at the above poster, you can tell that his head doesn't look quite right poking out the top of the suit, and it looked even worse in motion.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
