7 Things Fans Demand From Loki TV Show

5. The Trials Of Loki

Loki Mjolnir
Marvel Comics

Obviously the show is going to look to the comics for some inspiration, and they could certainly do worse than Robert Aguirre-Sacasa’s wonderful The Trials Of Loki.

Seeing as it’s an origin story, there’s no chance we’ll get the entire story, nor should we; Loki is an established character in the Marvel canon now, and with Hiddleston playing him again we’ll need no introductions. However, Aguirre-Sacasa’s tale penetrated deep into the heart of what makes the God of Mischief tick.

By weaving comics Loki with Norse Loki, The Trials Of Loki is an absorbing story of Asgardian mythology. As villain origins go, it doesn’t quite match Alan Moore’s The Killing Joke, but it’s still a run Disney needs to have a serious look at when adapting their TV show.

Loki is a man out of place in his own realm, his own city, and even his own family. The show must dig in to the core of this lack of belonging. Loki lies so much even he struggles to keep up, and though in the movies we’ve often seen him in control of most situations (only Black Widow has really gotten the upper hand outside of straight up combat), the TV show needs this vulnerability dialled up.
