The rumour mill never ends; it just keeps turning.

For many people, Toby Maguire is Peter Parker. His dorky and likeable version of the character became one of the first superheroes to hit it big, which is why he has been so heavily rumoured for No Way Home. Not taking advantage of this would be a mistake on Sony's part, especially as he's a shoo-in for a specific role in the film.

As the original and oldest version of Peter, Maguire would fall into the role of mentor incredibly well. Into The Spider-Verse already proved how successful having an older version of Spider-Man could be, and thus, there's plenty of scope to do the same here.

The loss of Tony Stark has weighed heavily on Holland's Peter, so seeing him get the chance to learn from another version of himself, who probably understands his struggle far better, would make for some phenomenal development for him.

Fans have all but decided that this is happening, so no matter how good the movie is, it will feel like a massive downgrade if the film doesn't feature the original friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.
