8 Actors Who Spoiled The Endings To Their Own Work

4. Will Smith Tells Japan The Whole Ending Of I Am Legend

Is giving away the ending of your upcoming film technically considered a spoiler if said movie is based on a novel from the 50s that had already been translated to the big screen twice before? Well, yes, if your adaptation of the movie doesn't follow in the exact same footsteps, which is the case of 2007's I Am Legend. When Will Smith began promoting his zombie apocalypse thriller in Tokyo, he went deep, detailing to the Japanese media all the juicy bits of the film's climax. Smith probably assumed that everyone had read the source material or watched either Vincent Price or Charlton Heston in his role decades earlier. But even if that assumption is correct, there are some major differences in the way that each version ends. Specifically, the ways in which Smith, Price, and Heston die vary in rather dramatic ways. And even if Smith's portrayal was scripted to follow the book or previous two films beat by beat, YOU DON'T TALK ABOUT YOUR ON-SCREEN DEATH. That's pretty much Movie Promotion 101.
