8 Continuity Flaws That Ruin A Film Series During A Binge Watch

1. Bond And Blofeld Meeting For The First Time - On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Iconic Bond villain Blofeld was introduced in the second film From Russia With Love, and after being teased for a couple of entries (how very Marvel) he and Bond finally meet in You Only Live Twice. They have something of an explosive encounter and Blofeld escapes, setting up their next confrontation.

Only they appear to have forgotten about it, because in the next entry - On Her Majesty’s Secret Service - they don't recognise each other. This is a mighty big gaff, though there are a few reasons for it. The movie was meant to film before You Only Live Twice, but the order got switched around. The director of OHMSS then decided to set the film in its semi-own continuity, since it featured new actors for Bond and Blofeld.

The script was also supposed to open with Bond having plastic surgery following an accident – hence the change from Sean Connery to George Lazenby – which would explain why Blofeld didn’t recognise him, but this was also cut.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
