8 Films That Were Supposed To End The Series (But Got Sequels Anyway)
1. Saw 3D: The Final Chapter
How long until the next one: Six years (?)
Number of movies after this: TBD (but probably a lot)
How they tried to end it: A bunch of lame twists (and everyone dies)
Seriously, is there any sequel with "final" in the title that really is the final one? Certainly not Saw 3D: The Final Chapter, as another movie was announced after just a four year break.
The trailer for Saw 3D declares, "The time has come for all to experience the last act of a legend," and then it calls the movie "the final cut." These writers clearly intended this to be the finale, going all out and killing off important characters including the main villain.
But Saw was one of the most successful horror franchises of the decade, so how could Lionsgate really let it go? No, they were just giving it a break. Back in October it was reported that an eighth Saw movie was officially being planned and could hit theaters as early as next year. Given how overly complicated and dumb the series' continuity got, let's just pray it's a reboot.
