5. The Scorpion King Series

The Scorpion King was The Rocks first leading role, a spin-off of his cameo appearance in The Mummy Returns, but the film itself was an enjoyable but forgettable fantasy adventure and was reasonably successful at the box office.

So, bearing in mind it was a spin-off of a sequel to a remake, the series decided to make things extra confusing. The Rock decided not to return for more, so The Scorpion King 2: Rise Of A Warrior was a straight to DVD prequel that gave the character an unnecessary origin story.

The next two movies in the series Battle For Redemption and Quest For Power followed on from the original. So to put the timeline straight, that makes Quest For Power a sequel to a sequel to a prequel to a spin-off of a sequel to a remake. Got that?
