8 Horror Movie Sequels We Almost Got

5. Candyman 4

It's best not to sugarcoat it... 1999's Candyman: Day of the Dead was... really bad. Star Tony Todd openly admitted his dislike for the movie and that he only took it for the money.

This dissatisfaction is likely why Todd decided he would take the reigns and craft the next installment himself. In 2004 Todd spoke to Fangoria on the future of his most iconic character. Readers were told that there were rumblings of a new installment that Todd had written himself.

Purportedly titled Candyman: The Tribe, Todd's script would see the hook slinging villain summoned by an unknown descendant of his to a New England college campus. The aim of the story was to ignore previous sequels and recapture Candyman's menace and mythos by transferring the action to a bleak, snowbound setting.

The last concrete information on the project came in 2008 with reports that Melissa Joan Hart may sign on. Subsequently, Todd and creator Clive Barker could not come to a rights agreement for another film and the promising sounding project was scrapped.

With 2021 promising a fresh Candyman reboot however, the hook-man may have a resurgance
