4. Dennis Nedry - Jurassic Park
Dennis Nedry has proven himself to be a relative source of amusement for pretty much everybody who thinks
Jurassic Park is as awesome as I do: Nerdy is annoying as heck, but in that "on purpose" kind of way that makes him such a delicious character. Apart from the dinosaurs, the man is probably the movie's biggest villain, what with the fact that he accidentally unleashes prehistoric hell on the movie's protagonists when he tries to escape with John Hammond's precious DNA samples. He's a fat guy, which - in movieland, anyway - presumably to make you more "hilarious", but he's also a slob, totally unhelpful in every way, and the lockout program on his computer chants, "Uh-uh-uh, what's the magic word?", which is really, really frustrating if you're trying to find a way to stop dinosaurs from eating all your grandchildren.
The Spin-Off: "Nedry" You're going to have to bare with me somewhat on this one, 'cause I know that Dennis Nedry was murdered horribly by a poison-spittin' horror monster in
Jurassic Park, but from what I remember, it's only implied that he died - as in, we don't actually see it in gory detail. Which is why I've somehow managed to convince myself that the man is available for a spin-off, one which follows him as escapes from the hell that is Jurassic Park, injured and on the verge of death. Because there aren't enough movies about, uh, "larger men" as heroes, and I think "Nedry" would prove to be an interesting experiment of sorts. Seriously. It's gonna be so meta you won't believe what you're seeing, as we experience an action movie from the point of view of this rude and annoying fat dude. I'm breaking new ground, yes.
