3. Briefcase - Pulp Fiction
Did you ever think you were going to find out what was in the briefcase as Jules snapped open the lid to a bathing glow of golden light? Well, you were not going to find out nor will you ever I'm sure. This is one of cinema's favorite jokes popping right from Pulp Fiction in terms of not giving the audience everything it needs or wants. Very early on in the film the briefcase, picked up by Jules and Vincent, has a teasing sensation on screen, giving the audience a hint that it may be critical to the plot. Surely, whatever is inside must be of the utmost importance, otherwise, why keep it a secret the entire film only to reveal it at thenope, wait, it's never revealed. Are the briefcase's contents that important? Not really. Do we still want to know? Of course. However, the briefcase is like a magic trick, finding out the source of that glorious orange light that mesmerized all that looked upon it would just kind of ruin the fun. It is much better to let the imagination roam wild and think up the wildest answer possible.
