8 Incredibly Subtle Movie In-Jokes You Totally Missed

8. "I'm F*cking Hercules!" - Hostel: Part II

G11290201957754Hostel: Part II basically emerged as the first Hostel movie, though the original male cast were replaced with a female cast, and actor Roger Bart (best known for his eccentric Broadway turns) played a timid character possessing a secretly murderous drive, named Stuart. If you've ever seen any of the Hostel movies, you'll know that their premise revolves around a shady corporation who kidnap backpackers and charge rich people to torture and murder them in graphic, often sickening ways. Stuart is one of the rich people. Towards the end of the movie, Stuart has our main protagonist tied to a chair. At first he thinks about letting her go, but suddenly changes his mind and decides to go through with the killing. It's then that he roars "I'm f*cking Hercules!" in a show of - what I presume is supposed to be - manliness. The incredibly subtle in-joke you probably missed here? Roger Bart provided the singing voice for the Hercules character in Disney's 1996 adaptation. You certainly won't listen to "Go The Distance" in the same way again after you've watched the bit where Stuart gets his penis chopped off.
