A key facet to Ryan Reynolds nailing the Deadpool character is, of course, allowing his motormouth to run wild and fully realise the anti-hero in all of his wise-cracking, quick-witted glory. Interesting it is, then, that a lot of the character's best one-liners actually took shape during post-production.

The genius of Deadpool's mask having no mouth is that it allowed Reynolds to constantly iterate what the superhero was saying right up until each movie was released. Reynolds would record new lines of dialogue on his phone whenever he thought of them, and then re-record them professionally in an ADR dubbing session later on.

The most iconic addition to either movie that Reynolds added later was the famous "McAvoy or Stewart?" quip from the first film, a line so brilliantly conceived and delivered you'd never guess it was thought-up off-the-cuff once principal photography had been completed.

Without the combination of the mouth-less mask, Reynolds' own imaginative contributions - he even earned a co-writer credit on Deadpool 2 - and his close working relationship with writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, Deadpool wouldn't be anywhere near as boundary-pushing and straight-up entertaining as he is.
