8 MCU Villains Who Are Totally Underrated
6. Yellowjacket
Marvel villains are typically the suit and tie type like Alexander Pierce, or a villainous mirror image of the hero like The Winter Soldier.
In Ant-Man though, Corey Stoll’s Yellowjacket manages to be both. Jack of all trades, master of none, Yellowjacket is fairly middle of the road in both of these categories, and tends to get forgotten about. However, balancing both is a difficult task, and Yellowjacket is often denied the credit he deserves.
Killmonger, Ronan and Thanos are physically imposing, but it’s hard to imagine them having a Devil Wears Prada kind of subtle intimidation. Likewise, Pierce, Zemo and Everett K. Ross (more of a roadblock in Civil War than a villain) each have a managerial or intellectual superiority, but you wouldn’t fancy them in a fist fight.
Yellowjacket’s battle with Ant-Man on the toy train track was just the right blend of silliness and action packed for the movie, but Yellowjacket’s real menace comes in the boardroom.
Imploding the investor about the pull the plug with his shrink ray then simply wiping the speck of blood left of him is one of the most casually cruel moments of the MCU; Yellowjacket definitely deserves more praise than he gets.
