So, all of the above is pointing to this version of The Joker being perhaps the most f**ked up take on the iconic Batman villain to date.

While his exact role in the movie is still shrouded in secrecy, it's been reported that he's brought to Belle Reve by Amanda Waller to provide information on Batman as he's the only person to have ever got to know Gotham City's Dark Knight. He'll remain in his cell for most of the movie as a result, and it's thought that those tattoos are actually covering up scars inflicted on him by The Batman during their many encounters over the years.

However, don't expect The Joker to stay caged for long, as one rumour claims that he will break out and embark on a vicious and brutal killing spree during his escape.

That's a great way of ensuring that The Joker leaves a real mark both on Suicide Squad and the DC Cinematic Universe. Why? Well, this scene is obviously a perfect set up for Leto to reprise the role in the long rumoured solo Batman which will apparently be directed by Ben Affleck...
