2. Taika Waititi Was Hired Because The Original Version Of The Movie Was Too Dark
If you've seen What We Do In The Shadows, you'll be well aware that Taika Waititi is a talented filmmaker, but there's no denying that he's a surprising choice to take the helm of a movie like Thor: Ragnarok. One possible explanation comes from a rumour which stated that Marvel were concerned that the initial draft of the movie was far too dark and gloomy and that it was in desperate need of being lightened up somewhat. Waititi seemingly confirmed that he was chosen to bring some levity to Thor: Ragnarok during recent interviews at Sundance, so chances are that Marvel really did need the feel to inject some laughs into the script. Is that a good or bad thing? Seeing as some of their other movies have been criticised for putting too much focus on humour, Marvel need to be careful not to go over the top with that in what arguably should be a pretty dark outing for the God of Thunder. For what it's worth, Waititi is certainly bringing the laughs on Twitter, telling one fan who asked, "please man... Dont f*** Thor ragnarok" that "Don't worry, I think he likes girls."
