8 Movies That Were Wiped Out Of Continuity By Their Sequels

1. Casino Royale Completely Ignores The Events Of All Previous Bond Movies

The Bond series has always had a loose approach to continuity. After all, Bond has changed shape, age and personality six times without anyone noticing. It€™s a series where the quip happy Roger Moore is supposed to be the same man as Timothy Dalton€™s brooding killer. But there is definite connective tissue between them all as different versions of Bond have interacted with the same Q, M and Moneypenny, fought against Blofeld and Bond€™s deceased wife has come up a few times. The producers decided the series needed a major facelift for the new century, however, and introduced Daniel Craig as a young 007 who has just obtained his license to kill. This twist obviously makes the previous adventures impossible, and has left the door open for other classic characters to be reintroduced. Series fans have made the argument that maybe the events of the original series happened in-between Quantum Of Solace and Skyfall, where the Craig version has grown from a newbie agent into a seasoned killer. They€™ve also tried to explain Bond€™s shifting appearance on a theory that James Bond is really a codename for MI6€™s top agent, and when an agent is retired or killed their replacement takes on the name. An interesting idea, but it doesn€™t stand up to close scrutiny. Why would Sean Connery be avenging the death of George Lazenby€™s wife, and why would Roger Moore later be seen laying flowers on her grave? And, as Skyfall showed Daniel Craig€™s Bond looking at his parent€™s grave, this theory has been killed once and for all. Can you think of any other sequels that were completely ignored by later entries? Share your choices down in the comments.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
