8 Problems With John Wick No-One Wants To Admit

4. John Wick Isn't An Interesting Character

John Wick has some things going for him as a character. While he seems like a great guy Keanu Reeves is an often-wooden actor but he is good as Wick, while the stuff about his wife dying was moving and the first film did a very good job at creating a sense of him being a legend and getting audiences invested despite it being half an hour before Wick actually picks up a gun. But, is he an interesting character? In the first film, yes, but subsequently, arguably not.

John Wick is a blank, indestructible superman figure who is never in the slightest bit of danger and lacks any real personality. Whatever situation he's in he'll always emerge with barely a scratch. He's a ridiculously overpowered character without any suspense attached to him, so it's impossible to get invested in anything he does since we already know the outcome.

He's also, let's face it, a psychopath who kills scores of people without ever giving a damn, so he's getting harder and harder to like with each movie.
