8 Reasons Why Superman Should Be In Shazam!

5. Reboot DC's Action

Man Of Steel Destroyed Metropolis

A portion of audiences ranted and railed against Man of Steel when it was released in 2013 because of the way it portrayed its action sequences. Superman and Zodd's final fight in the third act, specifically, drew lots of ire for its wanton destruction and careless exploitation of the disaster-porn aesthetic.

Since then, each and every DCEU film has consistently come back to this well, whether they mean to or not. Batman v. Superman featured our heroes fighting off Doomsday and destroying huge chunks of both Gotham and Metropolis in the process. Suicide Squad had the squad squaring off against Enchantress and her goons, and totaling Midway City.

Justice League featured Steppenwolf taking over and ruining an entire nameless Russian city. Heck, even Wonder Woman has the No Man's Land sequence featured Diana practically destroying an entire town and a finale in which her fight with Ares brings about a whole lot of things going boom.

Shazam! has the perfect opportunity to fix this. Though DC may not realize it, it is completely possible to have a thrilling battle sequence with plenty of high-stakes without resorting to total destruction in the process. A Shazam and Superman battle sequence would be the perfect time to reboot the way DC does their action sequences, in a similar way that the issue started.

With a now (hopefully) much smarter Superman, Supes could take his battle with Shazam purposefully away from possible casualties and destruction, acting as the meta-critique DC's been trying to make ever since 2013.
