It is a little known fact that Gwyneth Paltrow worked as an actress before forging her career in the vagina-scented candle industry. In those innocent, pre-Goop days, Paltrow starred in the Oscar-winning Shakespeare in Love (1998) alongside Ben Affleck. Although her high-profile engagement to Brad Pitt had only recently been terminated, the two actors quickly became romantically involved.

Nevertheless, it ended almost as soon as it began, and the couple split up. It seems that they remained on good terms, though, because Paltrow managed to persuade Affleck to play her love interest in Don Roos' romantic drama Bounce (2000). While working together for the second time, the two began dating once again. Yet, their reignited relationship proved to be about as strong as Bounce's critically-panned script, because by October of that year, they were no longer together once again. Whether you blame the relationship breakdown on Affleck's notorious alcoholism or Paltrow's choice of home fragrance, it simply was not to be.

Paltrow went on to live out the Hollywood cliché, marrying rockstar Chris Martin and having a couple of kids with off-putting names before undergoing a "conscious uncoupling". She is now married to producer Brad Falchuk. Meanwhile, after a brief relationship with Jennifer Lopez, Affleck went on to marry Jennifer Garner. They had three children before divorcing in 2018, and the actor is presumably still deciding which Jennifer to hook up with next.
