4. Princess Leia - Star Wars: Episode V - A New Hope

One undeniably great part of
Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (there was a time when it was just called
Star Wars, you know) occurs when Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Obi-Wan Kenobi, two bickering droids and a walking carpet find themselves attempting a rescue mission on the Death Star, which is a huge moon-like space station with a laser powerful enough to destroy entire planets. They manage to complete their objective, which is to save Princess Leia, and everybody escapes on Han's ship, the Millennium Falcon, and returns to base. When they've fought off a few enemy ships and got clear of the Death Star, Princess Leia - who we assume is very intelligent - wonders out loud about how easy their escape was, given the size of the their ship at its passengers, and the colossal size of the space station they just escaped from. They only sent a few TIE fighters to stop them? What gives, right? Why not send a hundred? Or a thousand? At this point, one might presume that their ship has been bugged or something. Leia thinks this, too. She also opts to forget about it for no reason. That's right. They go back to the base anyway, which we later learn is found because they
were being tracked after all. Leia puts everyone's lives at risk, despite the fact that she guessed the Empire's plan as soon as they were making their escape. Luckily Luke is set on becoming a Jedi at this point, so he saves the day and nlows up the Death Star... but c'mon, Leia... you done goofed, girl.
