8 Upcoming Movies Everybody Already Hates

6. Justice League

The Hate: The film's troubled production and the DCEU's weak track record are impacting how people view the film.

Because Man Of Steel divided audiences and critics upon release and Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad were universally panned, the DCEU tends to draw a lot of negative attention, despite there being many great things about it - see Wonder Woman, or the fact that Joss Whedon is making Batgirl.

And Justice League is usually the focus of this attention. Every report that comes out about the movie seems to be a bad one - the movie is unwatchable, or Cyborg needs fixing - and though they're just rumours, they give people ammunition to attack the movie with.

While it's unfair to judge the movie based on said rumours, there are plenty of legitimate reasons to be dismissive of Justice League. For one, Batman v Superman did not do it any favours at all. That movie was a mess from start to finish, and put the future of the DCEU in serious doubt.

The film's marketing has also provided cause for concern. Those first two trailers - with their quips, army of cannon-fodder minions and breezy rock music - felt like they were ripped straight from the MCU. It's not that it looks bad; it just doesn't feel special.

All these factors have combined to create a perfect storm of negativity, and Justice League is at its centre. Luckily, we only have a few months to go to find out whether the hate was well-founded or not...

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
