8 Ways New Batman V Superman Trailer Made You Change Your Mind

6. Batman Has A Legit Reason To Fight Superman

What You Originally Thought: Given the premise of the movie, fans were concerned as to why the iconic heroes of the title would actually end up facing off against one another. In The Dark Knight Rises, the brilliant comic book that part of the movie is based upon, Superman sets out to destroy Batman because the Man of Steel is depicted as a government tool who will do anything he's told; Batman fights back. With the upcoming movie, the reasoning behind said face-off hasn't been made quite as apparent, which has left a lot of people wondering how these two superheroes would come to blows. Until now. How The New Trailer Changed Your Mind: This particular aspect of the movie had to be good, of course, because it's the narrative hinge on which the entire film is based. So it's nice to watch a trailer that presents a sensible and believable case as to why Batman might find himself in a position to destroy Superman - something many have deemed "ridiculous." Batman's reasoning, then, is that Superman has the power to destroy the world, and so the Dark Knight deems it essential that he must be stopped at all costs before it is too late. This is further emphasised by Alfred Pennyworth in the new trailer when he says: "That's how it starts. The fever... the rage... that turns good men cruel." In essence, he's saying that Superman will ultimately turn against the world if the world continues to reject him. As stated, Batman also has a personal vendetta as glimpsed by the scene in which the Wayne Tower in Metropolis is destroyed in Superman's battle against Zod in Man of Steel, as he clings to a young girl in the aftermath of its destruction. Then there's the moment in the new trailer with the newspaper clipping, sent to Bruce to make him feel bad about the deaths of what one assumes are his employees during the Metropolis battle. Guilty feelings.
