9 Avengers: Endgame Powers That Are Actually Real, Thanks To Tech
4. Black Panther - Vibranium
We hate to break it to you but vibranium - the fictional metal found only in Wakanda - doesn't exist. That hasn't stopped us from trying to create materials that can absorb kinetic energy. Black Panther's suit is made from vibranium and has the ability to store kinetic energy and release it later. Captain America's shield is nearly indestructible because of the same material and allows him to even absorb blows from Moljiner wielded by Thor. While we might not have vibranium, we do have some similar materials that could serve the same purpose.
Tungsten Carbide can compress under a load, storing energy to be released later. Diamond nanothreads - which are basically carbon threads assembled the same way that carbon atoms align in diamonds - can hold energy when woven into a fabric.
Elon Musk's company Hyperloop Transportation Technologies is even making their transportation pods out of 'vibranium' - but it didn't come from a meteor. Musk's vibranium is made up of a woven carbon alloy that is eight times stronger and five times lighter than steel. Yes, the name is inspired by the Black Panther comics. It might not be the same sort of metal that makes up Black Panther's suit and Captain America's shield, but until we have our own vibranium-rich celestial body strike Earth, it's a good substitute.
