Unlike her former best friend and Disney co-star Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez has managed to sustain a career without any major drama or scandals. Her relationship with Justin Bieber gained much media attention, but that's only to be expected. Her career started aged just 8 on the pre-school series Barney and in 2007 she landed the lead role of Alex Russo on in the Disney Channel sitcom Wizards of Waverly Place, which ran until 2012.
She later fronted the band Selena Gomez & The Scene and helped produce the Netflix hit 13 Reasons Why. She has since gone solo with her music and her most recent album, Rare, topped the charts in the US and reached #2 in the UK.
She was forced to put her career on hold in 2015 after being diagnosed with lupus and spent some time in rehab for her mental health, but has clearly bounced back in recent years.
