9 Female DC Superheroes Who Also Deserve Solo Movies
4. Katana
Katana was one of many characters who drew the short straw in Suicide Squad, but she's more than worthy of getting a mulligan to make up for it. The film only hinted at her fascinating history through a brief flashback and some clunky exposition courtesy of Rick Flagg, but a prequel fully delving into her tragic backstory would certainly make her retroactively interesting.
Filmmakers are always looking for new ways to shake up the superhero formula, so why not mix the genre with a samurai film? The Wolverine already took a decent stab at the idea, so why not mix in a little mysticism and maybe some hard violence thrown in too?
Katana's the perfect character for DC to dip their toes into R-rated territory. If nothing else, it would at least give a little more flavour to the character should she return in a Suicide Squad sequel.
If you want to see a taste of the true capabilities of Katana, watch the third series of Arrow. They actually build up her character throughout the entire season, and though her time in-costume is brief it is a far more satisfying experience to behold than listening to Not RoboCop abruptly tell us her origin for no reason.
