9 Horror Movies That Couldn't Live Up To Their Awesome Opening

Terrified is a quality, nasty little Argentinian film that earns its title for the most part, but one not without its issues. Following three separate houses plagued by supernatural problems - like a man wanting to confront the monster under his bed, and a woman who's son returns from the grave - it loses its drive fairly quickly, instead hopping between all the most terrifying moments without much to fill out between. That's fine and all, but it does leave a distinct dead air around its set pieces.

Whilst its approach to horror still makes for an excellent movie, nothing can quite top the absolutely nerve shattering opening reveal, in which a woman that believes she hears voices coming from her pipes is found by her husband in the dead of night. Noticing she's missing and believing the banging coming from his house to be noisy neighbours doing late construction, he heads to the bathroom to find his wife suspended in mid air, being bashed from wall to wall uncontrollably by a malicious unseen force.

It's slow, methodical, and downright disturbing - and whilst plenty other images in Terrified with stick with you after watching, none are quite so juicy as this opening shocker.
