9 Movies That Were Scrapped After Being Filmed (And Why)

2. All American Massacre (William Hooper)

The Film: Fans of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre films will be well aware of the situation surrounding the cancelled prequel/sequel All American Massacre. Helmed by William Hooper, son of original TCM director Tobe Hooper, the movie would have seen Chop Top (Bill Moseley) being interviewed by an inquisitive journalist in a Texas psychiatric hospital. Through flashbacks we were to see the origins of the Sawyer family and the events that lead to their horrific crimes. The soundtrack was recorded by horror-inspired guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Buckethead, who also donned a fat-suit to play the chainsaw-wielding Leatherface. Why It Was Scrapped: When the project began it was only ever intended to be a short film, though as it progressed it became clear that there was at least enough material there for an hour long feature. Hooper appears to have pushed his luck, however, as attempts to stretch the project further ended in overspending and ultimately derailed the movie. He refused to give up on the film all together, setting up a donations page in the hope that fan funding would make his dream (or nightmare, as it were) a reality, though the film's star man Bill Mosely believes the time has now come and gone, saying "You know, I think it€™s almost gotten to a place where All American Massacre has been such a mystery for so long that it couldn€™t possibly meet, let alone exceed, the expectations of the fans that have been waiting so long for it."

Phil still hasn't got round to writing a profile yet, as he has an unhealthy amount of box sets on the go.
