9 Ways DC Could Respond To Spider-Man Joining The MCU

1. Just Pack It In

Man Of Steel cost Warner Bros. $225 million and made $668 million at the box office. Factor in the mighty cost of the marketing done on this film - the general rule when taking marketing costs on Hollywood films into account is to take the production budget and double it - and you€™re looking at something that performed only marginally well in cinemas. For an indication of what the success of Man Of Steel looks like, consider that How to Train Your Dragon 2€™s $618 million haul last year was considered a disappointment. Warner Bros. is already faced with bad buzz and underwhelming box office figures, while Marvel has gone from strength to strength, up to and including the news that Spider-Man, a hot property with a huge audience already attached, is now on its books. The DC movie-verse looks like an expensive, bank-breaking folly waiting to happen - likely the smart move to make from a business sense would be for WB and DC to let the idea of a new comic book universe go. Realistically, of course, this isn't a move they're likely to make; expect the team to stubbornly go as far with this idea as they can (before a lack of audience interest puts a stop to the whole endeavour anyway). How do you think DC will react to the Spider-Man news? Let us know in the comments in the below.
