9 Ways X-Men: Apocalypse Is The Most Frustrating Comic Book Movie Of The Year
5. Wolverine's Cameo Is Completely Pointless
Everyone moaned when BVS ruined the Doomsday reveal for its final trailer, which was best saved for the movie itself. Disappointingly Fox did the exact same thing with Apocalypse, revealing that Wolverine was indeed going to make an appearance.
So while it’s nice to see Hugh Jackman back again for a cameo, like everything else in the movie it’s a bit of a letdown. He appears around the midway point when the heroes are taken to Alkali Lake, but this isn’t the Logan we know and love. He’s the animalistic Weapon X version, who escapes and unleashes an almighty berserker rage on the faceless soldiers of the base, which might have been more fun if the rating didn’t hold it back.
Ultimately this whole section is a narrative dead end and exists solely for this one scene. It does round up Logan’s story in a way, yet his wordless appearance and the dumb gag Cyclops makes at the end makes it clear the whole thing is just fan service.
It's not quite as worthless as The Flash nightmare scene from Dawn Of Justice, but the movie still doesn't need it.
