A Nightmare On Elm Street: Freddy's 10 Most Creative Kills

6. Super Freddy - The Dream Child

Mark is the third character to die in The Dream Child, and is introduced as being something of a geek in the group with his passion for designing comic books being his main trait in the film. He is a skilled artist and has even designed his own superhero, the Phantom Prowler, that comes to play in his death.

The Dream Child is really where the Nightmare series started to reflect the outlandish cheesiness of the '80s, and the sequence where Mark meets his maker is perhaps the best example of this in effect. Whilst reading a comic book that features an all-too-familiar foe killing Greta (his love interest), Mark is transported 'Take on Me' style into the comic book world.

Freddy then appears riding a skateboard of all things, before prompting Mark to transform into his Phantom Prowler alter-ego after seeing Greta's ghost. Things get even wackier however when Freddy transforms into his own superhero, named 'Super Freddy', and kills a 2D paper-cut out of Mark. The animation of colour slowly being drained out of Mark is a nice touch by the production team, capping off a wonderfully memorable and outlandish kill.

With the effects ripped straight off A-ha, it is a kill that is so out there and screams of the '80s so much you can't help but love it.
