All The Warner Bros. Films Coming To HBO Max In 2021
5. The Matrix 4 - December 22nd
The anticipated sequel to The Matrix: Revolutions, The Matrix 4 reunites Lana Wachowski with Keanu Reeves, both returning to their respective roles of director/writer and lead actor respectively.
Although the other Wachowski sister, Lilly, is not directly involved, she has given her blessing to the new film.
Originally planned to release alongside John Wick 4 (oh, what a week that would have been), the release of The Matrix 4 was pushed up to December 22nd, 2021.
Along with Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Ann Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith, Lambert Wilson (Merovingian) and Daniel Bernhardt (Agent Johnson) will all reprise their roles in the sequel. Laurence Fishburne and Hugo Weaving are sadly not reported to be returning, but until the final product is released, there's still hope.
It's unclear what the timeline of The Matrix 4 will be, not that the timeline in The Matrix franchise was ever easy to understand, but Reeves has stated that the relationship between Neo and Trinity will continue to some degree, despite Neo's presumed death at the end of Matrix Revolutions.
Still, with all the different time periods in the Matrix, we might even see a prequel to the original, especially with a younger Morpheus rumoured to have been cast. Wherever they're going, there's probably going to be guns. Lots of guns.
