Alternate Versions Of Every MCU Movie We Almost Got To See
8. Edgar Wright's Ant-Man
Unquestionably the most high-profile and fervently discussed "almost was" MCU project is Edgar Wright's original tenure as writer-director of Ant-Man.
Wright worked on the movie for many years, though left the project over creative differences after he felt that Kevin Feige was imposing too many restrictions on his vision (namely the mandated inclusion of the Falcon fight).
Eventually, Peyton Reed was hired as his rather uninspired replacement, though ultimately did a surprisingly decent job, working from Wright's original casting and his and Joe Cornish's re-written script.
Would It Have Worked?: We'll never know exactly how much of Wright's DNA is in the final film, but given his impeccable talents as a filmmaker, it's incredibly easy to believe he would've given us a far better movie.
Sure, it wouldn't have played much to the demands of a cinematic universe, but that's more a business concern than an audience one. Fans are sadly only left to imagine the boundless creative potential of Wright's take on the pint-sized superhero.
