Alternate Versions Of Every MCU Movie We Almost Got To See
14. The Avengers Featuring Ant-Man & The Wasp
Joss Whedon's The Avengers was such a complex, unprecedented undertaking that it's little surprise the project went through many permutations before finally releasing in 2012.
The most alluring deviation from the original plan, however, was that Ant-Man and the Wasp were both set to appear. However, due to the film already having to juggle so many characters, it was decided to save them for the standalone Ant-Man movie, which of course released three years later.
Would It Have Worked?: It's an interesting one, if only because Ant-Man and the Wasp may have ended up being played by totally different actors if casting took place at this time.
While Whedon is extremely skilled at juggling large rosters of superheroes, his instincts were probably right here. The movie already had enough to do, and Age of Ultron proved what happens when Whedon has too much forced onto his plate.
