Alternative Oscars: The Nominees & Winners For Every Category

18. Best Supporting Actress

WINNER: Hayley Squires (I, Daniel Blake)

No 2016 film has been as Oscar-snubbed as Ken Loach's magnificent drama about Britain's unfair benefits system, and though BAFTA feted it with an Outstanding British Film win, they sure as Hell weren't doing so out of misplaced patriotism.

Squires' heartbreaking performance as a young mother living below the breadline and struggling to feed her kids is devastatingly true-to-life, and the fact Squires hasn't received more recognition for her fantastic work is an absolute travesty. She'll take the Alternative Oscar instead.

RUNNERS-UP:

2. Michelle Williams (Manchester by the Sea)

3. Naomie Harris (Moonlight)

4. Angourie Rice (The Nice Guys)

5. Greta Gerwig (20th Century Women)
