Ant-Man: 8 Actors Who Could Play Young Hank Pym

7. Simon Pegg

Given Simon Pegg's strong ties to director Edgar Wright and his fondness for things of a comic book nature, his name was always going to get mentioned in the same breath as Ant-Man. Pegg has definitely got an appealing everyman feel to him, and those rumours of Wright's film having a lightly-comedic undertone to it certainly give weight to the possibility of Pegg playing the young Hank Pym. Those that have seen his turns as Scotty in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek movies will have seen Pegg deliver a bumbling, scientifically-minded character that came off as likeable and easily-watchable. The idea of him as a young Hank Pym depends on what route Marvel Studios and Edgar Wright are looking to take with the character. Simon Pegg certainly knows his comics, has a fantastic relationship with Wright and can nail the humourous elements that Wright is rumoured to be incorporating into his film, but does he really have the gravitas and intensity to pull off the troubled genius of Henry Pym? And does he really have the look of a young Michael Douglas? Plus there's recent rumours that Pegg would rather play a villain if he were to appear in Ant-Man, with Egghead the current role rumoured.
