Ant-Man & The Wasp Extra Features: 10 Things We Learned
9. Paul Rudd's Performance Was Inspired By Bill Murray
It's fair to say that Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) was steered in a far goofier direction character-wise in this sequel, basically serving as the dolt to Hope van Dyne's (Evangeline Lilly) far smarter and more resourceful hero.
The cast had effusive praise for Rudd's game comic performance, and Rudd himself confessed that he took influence from one legendary comedian in particular. He said:
"I always think of Bill Murray in Stripes. Actually, Bill Murray in anything. He just has this way about him, that he just seems to not take any of it seriously. I just love that...about Bill Murray, not about myself or my portrayal of the role."
He certainly brings the same mildly surreal brand of aloofness to the part, that's for sure.
