Ant Man & The Wasp Reviews: 10 Early Reactions You Need To See

4. Michelle Pfeiffer Is Disappointingly Underused

"Once she becomes a full-fledged character in the sequel, she’s a regrettable afterthought devoid of depth and beneath her considerable talents. The character barely exists at the outset, and once the movie calls for more development, she’s given nothing to work with." - IndieWire
"[Pfeiffer is] radiant but underutilized." - IGN

Most reviews have said precious little about Michelle Pfeiffer's role in the movie, though the scant consensus seems to be that her part is disappointingly malnourished, and despite her solid performance, she doesn't really bring a whole lot to the film.

Considering how effectively the first movie built up her disappearance and possible re-emergence, it's a bit of a shame that so few reviews comment on her arc at all, or it having the gratifying emotional payoff you would hope for.

Unless the critics are being exceptionally clever and secretive, though, it doesn't sound like she's a secret villain ala Ego (Kurt Russell), but basically just appears in a glorified cameo. Hmmm.
