Arnold Schwarzenegger: Every Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

4. Total Recall (1990)

Total Recall is Paul Verhoeven at his very best; loud, flashy, violent and served with a side helping of subversive humor and wry satire. The big-budget sci-fi actioner also boasts some incredible practical affects and miniature modelwork, as well as a knowing lead performance from Arnold Schwarzenegger that both embraces and pokes fun at his established action hero schtick. Studios just don't take risks on blockbusters like these anymore, with Verhoeven crafting an often-demented, occasionally twisted but always exhilarating adventure, that remains one of the greatest action movies ever made a quarter of a century on. Arnie's shift from disgruntled construction worker to bad-ass secret agent is intertwined with the twisting and turning plot that deftly balances laughs with thrills, excitement and explosions.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
