Atomic Blonde Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs
5. It's Got One Of The Year's Best Action Sequences
Though most of the action beats in the movie are smaller, disjointed standoffs that don't last especially long, there is one incredible, sustained standoff in the middle of the film that involves Broughton fending off numerous assailants in a stairwell and beyond.
The sequence goes on for around 15 minutes and sees Leitch cleverly blending numerous long takes into one relatively convincing "unbroken" shot as Broughton takes down her many attackers in jaw-droppingly brutal style.
It's easily one of the best action sequences of 2017 so far, and proves beyond any question the physical skill of Theron and directorial prowess of Leitch. What an incredible combo they are.
