Avengers 4: 10 Things Fans Demand
2. Iron Man Gets His Happy Ending
Of all the characters who've been touted to meet a deadly end, Tony Stark certainly looks like a strong candidate. Despite this, and though it's obvious that no fan will particularly want to see any of their favourite characters die, Tony is held with a particular degree of adoration - the thought of him going through all he has just to be killed doesn't exactly sit well with everyone.
And so, in light of the opening conversation from Infinity War - where Tony and Pepper Potts discuss having children - it stands to reason that the character could yet receive a happy ending. It's not like he doesn't deserve it either, and though Gwyneth Paltrow may have spoiled an aspect of this arc going into Avengers 4, whether or not it actually happens is anyone's guess.
In any case, it's not as though Tony Stark is compelled to be Iron Man. There is a logical end in sight for his affair with superheroics (one that was already broached in Iron Man 3, most notably), and while it's likely that other members of the original six Avengers will perish next year, Tony's death would be the one that hits hardest.
